Post-presentation (1)

Done with my FYP part 1 presentation today....And thus...this sem's coursework is pretty much done...

Pretty rushed work (as usual...LOL) but gotta say I think I did quite a lot in these 4 days. Quite happy with the presentation slides (that were finished half an hour before my presentation :P) too..thanks to Lisa for the reference and Siew for the tips....not much questions from moderator but some useful suggestion and feedback from both moderator and supervisor which I'm rather glad so yeah...more improvements to be done :D

So freakin tired for now I think I'm just gonna konk off and wake up early tmr to worry about tmr's classes and lab reports and what not...

p/s: ...yes I still gian nak shopping.... x.x

eff wai pee - FYP

FYP Presentation's tmr ...for part 1 that is.

I should be working on my presentation now...except that I still itch to work on the application itself. :P Can't believe I'm actually really working on a facebook application (babi codes so confusing at first)

Having 2 chrome windows (20+4tabs) + 1 incognito window (2 tabs) on....is not fun. PC hates it too. And I hate to restart slighly laggy PC cuz...I hate to open all those windows again....restoring 20+ tabs in 1 shot with TM's 'wonderful' line is no joke.

And QJ's sleeping so soooooo...nicely. Damn its so tempting to tido too...bah. I shall tido mati tmr! >:D

Things I'm thinking of doing now:
1. Sleep
2. Having a nice meal ala fine-dining...steak, salad and what not..../drool
3. Shopping...gah! Have puasa-ed too long x.x...bila mau Sale lagi?!
4. Plan+cook a nice nice meal without too much trouble of getting the ingredients...

Ah! Distractions...

French Toast for breakfast

The thing about waking up early in the morning is that...I have to eat breakfast. Unlike last time where I wake up just in time for class and just run off without breakfast...I get hungry and...distracted :P Lunchtime is 3-4 hours away...and I dun think I can tahan till then...hahaha.

So French Toast is on the menu today. Unlike last time where I serba tak cukup ingredients (I had to manually ketuk a cinnamon stick cuz I dun have cinnamon powder...I thought Amran forgot to bring his back..damn)...this time I actually have all the ingredients on the shelf...hee..

So here's a recipe of one of the nicest, most fragrant french toast I've ever had, home made (aunt's one still rawks with 'mee koo' tho..mmm rindu)

  • 1 egg
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon powder
  • dash nutmeg powder
  • 8 slices French bread, sliced on diagonal
**recipe requires 1 whole egg, and 2 egg whites....I just used 2 whole eggs to save all the trouble of having 2 extra yolks not knowing what I'll do with them later

1. Whisk egg until foamy.
2. Whisk in the milk, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg.
3. Heat up butter in non-stick pan. I used slow fire to prevent burning the bread.
4. Dip bread into mixture, coat thoroughly, and place them into heated pan. Cook until nicely browned.
5. Serve with maple syrup or honey. Jams will do too I think (thinks of blueberry jam..mmm). If you're not eating it immediately, keep warm in oven.

Barely floating on a flooded week

This has gotta be the most packed week in my life in uni. 4 assignment datelines + FYP presentation to rush in a week (or rather 2-ish)...in midst of 2 lab sessions, and a lab report that I have yet to write...to hell la that will have to wait.

2 assignments down. 2 more...

TM's having a field day toying with my line too. Line's been dead twice in 2 weeks. Damn babi I tell you. For no freakin good reason it just simply...dies off. Shit! And twice it got me thinking that its my modem/router.

To make matters worse, the weather's so hot these days, it drives me nuts! It drive my PC nuts its been restarting whenever I'm out of the cuz the room fan's off. It drove QJ nuts, gave him fever...geh.

On another note...in the midst of this crazy week...I've been sleeping rather...healthily...I sleep around 8-10pm and wake up around 5am...siao wan....so now I'm trying to drag it a bit and maybe try sleep only at 12 cuz I can't stand sleeping right after dinner w/o doing anything at night...its a bit...sad.

Less 'meh' post will have to wait. Till then... :D

p/s: today, 2 diff ppl commented that my BM's pretty good for a chinese...kekeke...

Envirosax

Envirosax are eco-friendly bags made out of durable waterproof lightweight polyester, built for toughness and extra strength.

Well...in short its a shopping bag for all you eco-friendly people so that you wun be taking more plastic bags for your groceries. What's great about it is that its waterproof, so if it messes up you can just wash it....and it rolls up neatly and can be secured with a button so it wun be take up much space in your handbag. Nice design is definately a plus.

The first time I heard about Envirosax was Christmas last year. Sis bought those (not sure if tis the same brand but must be la) from Singapore and I find them rather nice. But I kept feeling like its gonna tear if I load them with my usual groceries (says there they can last up to 20kg and by then I think my arms would have fallen off)...That...and I don't think I wanna spend about RM24.90 for a bag like this when I usually just use my small backpack for groceries...maybe when I have more cash to splurge la.

Here's some of the designs...makes my eyes go @.@ at the choice...

And the Kids version....

Distributed by Living Wing (same people who carry BROS), I suppose you can expect it to see it in Jusco or something (newsletter says  it should be available in One Utama in Homing, Living Quarters, and Parkson, Jusco Sunway Piramid, and in Isetan KLCC and Lot 10)

Happy Birthdays...

13th of April is a special day. Not because its the birthday of my friend, but its the birthday of 3 of my friends! Talk about coincidence :D

For one, it's my secondary school, Taekwondo instructor's birthday. Training was so much fun back then...I missed those days. It never was the same here...at least not to me. Wonder how he's doing now....never went back visit or anything after I left school....hehe....bad me x.x...ah well.

Secondly, it's the birthday of my friend from Poland, Karolina Pilarz. Shame to say, I also haven't been in touch with her for awhile. Used to chat with her so much back then when I was crazy about Deviantart...but I lost interest in drawing...and...yeah. Sent her a card and a Saiyuki Reload comic book last time for her birthday. Cost me a bomb for delivery...she sent me back a box of potpurri+easter chocolates+card+handphone accessory of a tiny adorable bear.... :)

Lastly (not least...even if you're prolly the shortest of them all...wakakkakaka /runs)....Mun Mun...Happy Birthday. Hope we'll still be in touch after you fly to Japan...and not like the last 2 person who share your birthday.

Oh and Happy birthday (yesterday) to you too Amran. :)

Maggi Goreng Kari

Siew gave me a really nice recipe of maggi goreng kari. Tasted really nice so I'm gonna share it here. Recipe's from him of course.

2 packets Maggi mee curry flavour (the soup one)
1 sachet of maggi mee curry (inside the instant noodle packaging of course) ** if you're only using 1 packet of noodle, then use only 1/2 packet of curry sachet.
1 tbsp margerine/butter
1 tbsp sesame oil

Boil noodle. Strain the water after its cooked. Mix the noodles with the other ingredients. Add into pan and stir fry it for awhile (if you're lazy, can just eat it w/o frying). Goes well with fried egg/sausages.

Another recipe for maggi curry noodle (soup) is given by my friend.

Boil the soup for the maggi curry noodle before adding in the noodle. Add in wedges of tomato and boil till its soft. Add in 1 tbsp lemon/lime. Add in noodle when tomato is soft. Serve with fried sausages (usually I cut them up into pieces and fry with salt) and fried egg.

Facebook: the Friendster syndrome?

I didn't jump onto the bandwagon when Facebook first started. To me, I thought facebook was just another thing like Friendster...and boy i hated that site. It was full of spam and messiness and..ugh. It didn't feel like a place to catch up and share things with your friends...it felt like a place you pimp up your front page and show off how bling it can be (at least for some people)....I stopped using friendster not too long after I started. It got too annoying and pointless.

Not long after I joined facebook, I quickly got to liking it. It was clean and smart...no junkie (if you don't count the 'games' applications they provide...haha) and it was the perfect way to keep in touch with your old friends. I found so many of my old classmates back in Sungai Petani in Facebook. It was nice seeing what they do now. Some have really grew to be really pretty butterflies. It was a nice feeling.

Then facebook had a facelift. While I kinda liked how it was still clean and somewhat less clunky...I hated the fact that I'm getting a lil too much feeds on the updates I get on the 'home' page. Don't get me wrong, I do like to know wats going up with my friends' lives but...that's not the only thing I'm seeing on the page. Day by day, I was getting more and more notifications from all those quiz applications. "xxx just took the yyy quiz and the result is zzz" ....sometimes I wake up in the morning and I get 10 feeds on a single friend about these quizzes. Oh gee. I'm on facebook wanting to know about your life. About what you define yourself...NOT how these applications define you!...I get so much of these spam that most of the time I had to click the "Older posts" link to see earlier updates...only to see more of the spam.

Facebook probably only added this recently (either that or I never thought of blocking these apps sooner)...they have a 'Hide' button beside the post feed on your 'home'...click on it...and you can either choose to block entries from this friend, or simply hide updates from this application in the future. Great! This is just what I needed....only thing is...with so many of these applications running around, I'll have to be blocking every single one of them one by one. Way to go.

Oh and don't get me started on the tagging fad.

I guess what QJ said was right when I told him I feel that Facebook is turning into the next Friendster. Its not Facebook turning into the next friendster....its Facebook users turning into Friendster users.

QJ@Malay Mail

Khurshid blogged bout this some time ago...I put it on my facebook status msg but never blogged bout it... :P

Now that I have some 'materials'...I guess I can properly mention it here...hee!

Malay Mail interviewed QJ some time ago about his MTG Blog...it got published in the papers the other day. Was freakin hard for us to find the paper. Searched for a whole day and never got it...meh....we managed to read the online version but it wasn't the same...but ...I suppose it'll do la.

Nice thing was, the interviewer sent a softcopy of the article to QJ today so...here it is :D

p/s: No i still dun have my net back. Squatting in CITS Sigma lab...MMU bloody changed all the PCs here mann....all running Vista now...whewt! Damn if they didn't chain the keyboard I would have stolen it....so nice....mouse too.....mmmmmmmmmmmm

Disconnected

I hate it when I don't have internet connection.

Its different when I'm going somewhere knowing full well that I won't be having internet...but its another thing when you're expecting the net to be there...and its not.

Dunno wat the hell is wrong this time. DSL light's not there (not good)...tried to call TM a few times and their bloody operators are ALWAYS busy (the answering machine was set to say that all the operators are busy, the moment i got connected to their customer interaction...bullshit)...and something tells me something might just be wrong with the modem (although strangly there's no rain or lightning before all this crap happened). Even strange is that Lisa's modem ALSO had the same 'reaction' just 2 days earlier...lucky for them they got their modem changed by TM eventho their warranty was over (those bastards wouldnt wanna change it for me when mine rosak last time...@%!!)...it would SUCK if we need to buy a new modem for no reason all of a sudden. We bought it barely a year ago and yes its still under warranty but with assignments and FYP dateline looming, I simply cant afford the wait.

Bah.... <.<>..thanks TM for your 'owhsum' service (sarcasm)

WEL5017

Was on the way to dinner the other night and passed this car twice. Nice how this guy used 'digital' fonts for the numberplate that it looks like its spelling WELSON.

Image quality sux due to rain+moving vehicle+sucky cameraphone :P

Fondant Decoration

Was at my sister's last weekend and since sis had leftovers of her fondant paste (that and she just bought a bunch of new pattern cutters that morning so we were itching to try it out XD) so I played around with them while sis was out doing her work.

Was quite difficult handling them at first but after awhile I got used to handling it so...here's what I did... :D

work in progress

after I was done assembling them on a plate...it actually looks quite decent :3

Guitar Hero: World Tour

QJ saw GH:World Tour in Singapore and can't stop thinking bout it ever since. He went back last weekend and got himself his new 'toy'...box damn big but happy happy oso him drag the whole box back from the shop...lucky Razzman was going back that day so we got a lift back to Melaka...

Happy Quj

Guitar Hero: World Tour...the new set from the Guitar Hero series. Now finally we can multiplayer with the game...featuring loads more songs, downloadable songs and you can even play with your friends online (i think)...but given our infamous net connection in Malaysia...hmmm...forget it.

GH:WT comes with the original game, a brand new design of the guitar (feels so much better compared to the first one, drum set, and a microphone for karaoke-ing purpose.

Now we can play with full band set, guitar, bass, mic and drums.....

....only stupid thing is, each of those equipments (even the bloody wired USB mic) needs a Wii remote to control them. Stupid right? So yeah....391D is now open for donations for purpose of buying Wii-motes for better multiplayer experience (haha)

This is how the game looks like with full band. Hmmmmm....yerp we definatly need a new TV to see all the stuff better....lol!

Now...when's the next BBQ session at 391D? Anyone? :D
