QJ and I went for a lil outing at Jusco today. Had loads of fun (and spent quite a bit..lol)...finally passed the taiko song, Natsumatsuri [first time!] ..after that we went bought Papa Roti to munch..and decided to tapau another 2 for Amran since went drooly drooly over it the other day..kinda... XD
Both of us cheekily hid beside his door and knocked on it when we came back and wanted to pass the buns to him...after knocking for a bit...both of us were kinda o.o? cuz his response kinda slow...then he opened the door, looking a bit tired. Told us he got stung by jellyfish.
EEK! Never really crossed my mind that there's jellyfish along the shores of the beaches of Malacca. Never. I've seen a bunch of jellyfish while riding the ferry across to Penang but that's in the deep sea area...and.....bleh. Just never expected them to be there. That's all. Anyways...it kinda makes me shudder to think that the ppl I know can kena jellyfish sting. Scary. Really! All this while my only 'First Aid knowledge' about jellyfish stings was.....ammonia...err....urine....^^; And when I think bout it..."is that really how you handle a jellyfish sting?????" ...made me think that its kinda unreliable.
So...that being said, I googled it up and got this:
"Jellyfish Stings - Symptoms range from a painful, itchy, red rash to nausea, low blood pressure and shortness of breath.
Warning: The venom from a poisonous jellyfish retains its potency even after the tentacles have been severed and the jellyfish is dead.
First aid: Rinse area with seawater (fresh water will worsen reaction) and remove tentacles with forceps, tweezers or gloved hands only. Apply white vinegar or rubbing alcohol for 30 minutes to neutralize venom. Make a paste with baking soda, mud or sand, or cover area with shaving cream, and shave with a sharp instrument to remove remaining tentacles. Apply hydrocortisone cream twice a day and control itching with an antihistamine.
Seek medical attention if: You’re stung on the face or genital area, have many stings or you’re having a systemic reaction – severe pain, worsening of the swelling, nausea, difficulty breathing or swallowing. [heck...I'd seek medical attention no matter what, reaction or otherwise -vox] "
p/s: Dun worry. Amran's quite fine ;D
pp/s: Edo...time to start throwing ppl into the beach next time...nyehehehe... /runs
