Phone Caller Etiquettes

Although this may seem very normal to most people, some idiots out there still don't observer the normal etiquettes of a caller while on the phone (in the perspective of the receiver of course)

  1. Start the conversation with a "Hello" or any 'friendly greeting'..."Hey" works fine too.
  2. Always know who you're calling (like duh). Never start a conversation with "Who are you?"...it always puzzles me how some idiots will call someone and then ask "Lu siapa?"...wtf man that's MY line. Even if the recipient doesn't sound like the person you're trying to call, even if its a handphone line, just start the conversation with "Hello, is this xxx?" instead of "LU SIAPA?" ...sheesh. Worst is that they never seem to accept the fact that they've dialed the wrong number (or somehow the number they dialed keeps getting routed to our number for some weird reason) even after you've explained to them for the n-th time.
  3. Don't call at odd hours. Or recipient's 'odd hours' (if you know of their habits). In other words, don't call when you know they're sleeping...or busy. (got woken up at 7am once during Hari Raya for a wrong number from a Malay. I wished him Selamat Hari Raya, then went back to sleep while thinking of my friend's mum's laksa).
  4. Don't call a person when you know he/she's out of the country unless really really necessary.
  5. Don't randomly jab in some number and chat people up. That's just...retarded.

...what else? I can't really think of anything else cuz...all this seems just so normal and natural to me but yet some people just aren't that normal eh?

p/s: Yes I've been slacking. Shoot me.
