Christmas Malls 2008 (One Utama)

This one is probably my last of my 'Christmas Mall' series, as I doubt I have time for Pavillion or the others...before Christmas that is. And after Christmas, I'm heading to Malacca for the weekend and then...well I'm guessing they'd already be taking down the deco for CNY so...yeah /shrugs. Anywayssssss....

Here's the cream of the crop, IMO:

I had seen One Utama's decoration from a friend's blog so I kinda know what it was like already. So I knew no matter what, I HAD to come here before I go back SP for Christmas ;)

It looked kinda simple...doesnt take up too much space, yet it was grand and stunning! Gives a warm feel to it too~

I haven't seen Pavillion's deco yet this year, but I think this year's Best Christmas deco would go to One Utama...well at least that's what I think. To each his/her own :3

Battery was kinda low...did snap a few more pics but they were kinda repetitive and these 3 were the best so...there :D

Christmas Malls 2008 (Mid Valley Megamall)

The best deco Mid Valley had, was their work 3 years back in 2005 when they had this snow-themed decoration. That one win hands down. Nothing I've seen so far, can beat the awesomeness of the deco that year, not even Pavillion's elegant decoration last year (ok that one came close :P)

I wasn't expecting much but this was not bad....albeit a tad bit weird of a theme. However, the North Court's decoration kinda impress me in its very special way :3 (scroll down for pics of the north court)

(elephants again? lol!)

As QJ and I were about to call it a day and head back home, we heard a sound akin to the sound of a vacumn cleaner and we knew instantly what it was: the snow machine!!! I quickly whipped out the camera and had QJ take some pictures as I was on the phone at the moment. Was afraid I couldnt get the snow into the picture as they were so fine but I guess my sis' camera did a pretty nifty job :D

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow~

I like this pic a lot...I dunno why :)

The south court had this...scary 'Joker' looking girl ornament. Didn't like it so...no pics. Mid Valley Garden's decorations aren't too bad either. Too bad it was raining heavily and I was too lazy to go underground/flyover to go there and snap some shots :P

Petrol down, price up?

Yesterday, most Malaysians greeted the news of the further 10cent/litre 'discount' of petrol and diesel. I wasn't directly affected but hey, my sis' is happy she gets more petrol for the amount she pays for so yay!

Usually I'd pack lunch to the office, or tapau sumthing from the train station but these days we either wake up too late to make breakfast or sis will directly to the station. Anyways, the usual stall I buy from seems to have gone for a long holiday since Raya Haji the other day :P ....so I took the chance to go out makan with my colleagues.

The last time I ordered from that particular stall, I remember the noodle dishes being RM4.50 but when my order of hokkien fried noodle came, the lady asked for RM5. WAT THE FUCK! A bit celaka isn't it? The price goes up 50cents/plate the same day petrol and diesel price went down by 10cents/litre. Diu la....RM5 fried noodles at home can feed a family of 3 liao ok? Lucky it tastes good...else damn celaka mannnn...

Thank goodness we cook our own meal at night ;)

Christmas Malls 2008 (Ikano Power Centre)

The moment I walked near Ikano's entrance, I could already sense something awesome was awaiting inside...as the 'snow' were strewn near the entrance door all the way down the pavement to the bus-drop off area. But when I stepped in......wow! It was pretty spectacular! The snow gave a lovely effect :D ...the reindeer were very well sculpted and painted and the Santa's home (I think) looked so warm, it made me wanna go have some tea inside XD

The guard decided not to budge eventho I waited quite a while for the coast to clear =.=

Even the tree was made out of syrofoam. Very pretty, but very very not environment friendly >.<

I can only imagine if my niece, Minn-Yi was here. She's go nuts over everything!

Christmas Malls 2008 (The Curve - Cont)

Perhaps my picture of The Curve did not do justice to the decorations they had...armed with my sister's Olympus pro-sumer, I head off to the top floor (or was it the 1st? /shrug) of The Curve and got a view of the centercourt decoration from a different perspective...

Also, another peek at their Flea Market, with better image quality :D

Ok ok the camera's a bit tilted in this one...there were a lot of people >.< I had to lift the camera quite high up to avoid those heads :P

Today, I ish happy.

Why? Well...

-It's holiday because of a certain someone's birthday, so now work for me (although I DID wake up at 7.30am and woke my sis up and mopped the floor before falling asleep again XD
-I went shopping :D
-Had nice nice lunch at Ikea's <3~>
-I'm (almost) done with my Christmas shopping! At least for my aunt and all my siblings. That being said, it'll be another headache thinking of what to get for both my parents...again x.x
-I discovered some extra cash in my bank, which quickly prompted me to scurry to Niichi and got myself a nice orange blouse (good for CNY for those whose parents prefer the children to wear BRIGHT colors...LOL)
-Had a wonderful dinner at Thai Restaurant, My Elephant (Section 17, PJ) and uncle belanja cuz its his birthday...its super sedap! If you love Thai food, you'd wanna go there.
-KL Aunt gave me an early Christmas present and since she didn't wrap it, I already know what it is :D ...yay for a new handbag XD

-And since I had some xtra cash in my bank, I might just be able to get that special someone in Melaka his Christmas present earlier than we agreed on X3 ...

So yeah. Happy day.

Werk tmr....but its Friday friday friday!!!

About: Work

Its been a month (or rather, 6 weeks...yay halfway there!) since I started work and I don't think I've talked much about work yet. Actually I haven't blogged much at all. Hahaha...Weekdays I'll either be tired shit when I come back from work, or have other things I rather do, or the 'free' wireless decides to not be so kind....so yeah.

My working hours is from 9 to 6, Mondays to Fridays. Eventho it says 9, I usually 'start' work only at 9.30 or 10 because...well...'tauke' only clocks in at 9.30 onwards (that and the fact that my brain's not awake yet sometimes :P ) so...here I am. Slacking. Shaddup bro, I know you're reading. Bluekk....

MMU assigned 5 interns to work here, 4 of them from cyber, and are very nice people. They all speak mandrin so...yeah...thankfully I'm not all banana..haha!

Oh about my boss. Mr Leong is a great guy to have as an employer. So glad I didn't have to deal with a headache type of a boss. He's very casual, always smiley smiley, sends email to us sometimes at 3am in the morning and still comes to work at 9.30am...and doesn't mind if we're all pretty clueless about PHP and those stuff. And he's not bad at teaching us stuff too so yeah. I'm glad. No he's not the type to buddy buddy with us (yet), and no he hasn't asked us to go lunch together nor belanja us makan but he's good :D

My work. 2 of us were assigned to work under another department, or rather, company (in the same office). They had to do accounting stuff. I dunno if FET minds...but it's still a working experience for them. Me and 2 other were assigned to the IT Dept, and this branch...we're pretty much the main working force. Most of the permanent workers are in the other branch...so you can imagine when the 2 bosses are not around...its basically just..us. Hahaha :P

My job scope mostly covers client's webpage maintenance as well as finding and modifying script to be used on future projects. Sometimes clients will ask us to fix some problems with their site (cant display flash, this and that not alligned, missing pic, broken link, shopping cart not working etc etc) or to add content or features to their site. Random mish mash of stuff basically.

Another project which I did was to 'move' our company's US team's old website and give it a newer, fresher touch. Certainly looks much much better now but there's still things to fix, most of which I'm not familiar with. Will need to check the site one last time before passing the whole thing back to my boss...nyehehe..

One other project I'm supposed to be doing is this community site for Setapak. Initially I was really....bleh about it because the site I was supposed to update was very 'clunky' and unfriendly, and not very pleasant to the eye...In other words, I didn't like it at all. After having so much trouble manually tweak the site template to look like what my boss would want it to look like, he told me one day "Try out this template and let me know the result"....I did it, and in the end I had to change the template of the community site to the new template. Practically throwing my previous week's work into the dumpster. Pfttt...but I suppose I'm glad he asked me to. Site looks so much better now...although initially I had a shitty time trying to figure out how to modify the template, not knowing I was not given super administator authorization and that it was needed for template change. HAIYO!

Learnt a lot of stuff. PHP, mysql....and a bit of flash. Hate it when I can't edit my pictures using Photoshop (because our office only has license for 1 PC and that PC lags x.x ) but I suppose I can survive with Fireworks.

Food, has been an issue. Food around that area is either expensive, or tak sedap. Blek. Our first day there, we had kwan lou yee mee. Even my maggi mee tasted better than dat. After a week of eating out and spending a lot of money eating stuff that were highly overpriced and not so sedap, I got fed up and packed lunch from home since then. Sis would either cook, or I'll cook (rarely tho..haha!), or I'll just tapau nasi lemak, noodle or sumthing from the malay stall at Kelana Jaya train station. Cost me RM1.50 to maximum of RM4.50 for a filling meal of Nasi lemak and curry chicken drumstick but usually it'll cost me around RM2. I know, not very social but I was too bloody broke to care, and we all spend the whole day in the office to social anyway. And its not like we can go far to have lunch either. Parking's per entry so we usually dun go out far.

Lately, both bosses have been out of office pretty often so....yay! Like all my friends say, "When the cat is away, the mouse comes out to play" .....stealing chicken...yes.... :P

Traffic jam is something that's quite numb already. Funny thing is, it won't jam on mondays after work...but if it rains...even if its only a drizzle....ZOMGWTF mannnn...I think I cycle oso sampai rumah ade.

Well...that's about all I can think of now. Overall....yeah I think I'm quite happy working here... :D

Cheers~~ and Happy Friday!

Christmas Malls 2008 (Part 1)

Ok before this blog dies and rots to kingdom come (and before Christmas comes and goes by)...here's a bit of a 'sneak peak' of what Christmas looks like in malls around Selangor/KL this year. Mostly on a bit of 'budget' and not so impressive IMO....but the 'feel' is still there :3

Picture quality is 'so-so' (especially the night scenes in The Curve) since they're taken with my Nokia 6300 with 2megapixels because my Olympus is with QJ in Ipoh reporting for Magic: the Gathering PTQ Kyoto. Read his report here: http://magicmalaysia.blogspot.com/ (yes I'm pimping...not that it really needs much pimping these days :P )

Part 1, and I don't know if there will be Part 2 or more. Not sure when's the next time I'll be going to the mall since I'm going back SP this weekend...prolly the week after that...may be able to peek at MV and/or 1U. Hope to see Pavillion this year, since last year was sooooo nice! (EH OMFG I DIN POST MY PICS LAST YEAR? WTF MANN!!!)
We'll see ;)

Enuff talk. Now with the pictures!
