Chilis before Genting

Post long overdue. I know. I've been an ass in updating my blog. Spending too much time at QJ's...again...haha...

Went down to KL on 4th Aug itself. The law girls+guy had this seminar thing, so we tumpang Amran's car down as well since the girls are staying with my sister which means we needed to be in KL at the same day so might as well. Saves the hassle.

QJ and I split from the law gang at KL Sentral and we headed to Berjaya Times Square. Been a while since we've been there. Shopped around for awhile. Went to Borders and he got me a book! My first book since LOTR XD. And my first Chic Lit. Usually dun buy these kinda books but enjoyed this book too much and no one seems to have it. I have this bad habit of going to bookstores and sitting down and read a book but never spending enough time to actually finish it. So everytime I got to MPH/Borders/Kino, I'll find 2 of these books I've started to read (but still never manage to finish) and catch up from where I left. One of the book was P.S. I Love You. The other one, by the very same author, Cecelia Ahern, was the one Dearie got for me, Love Rosie.

Now...why do I like this book so much? Cuz its one of the first books that I've seen that is almost fully written in conversations, as in, paper note passed in class, phone conversation, letters, instant messenger messages, and the sort. In a way, it was like Rosie's journal. A lovely read about two childhood friends who grew up supporting each other and being there for the other as one lands in big load of trouble. We see Rosie grow up, have a child of her own, facing life's problems, securing a dream career, have her whole life shaken again and again, and eventually having things fall into place.

Sis having that book at the moment. Pretty sure she was done with it already, since she SMS me one night: "Cham la...stuck with your book and can't put it down. Don't need to wake up for work ade tmr" ....lol.

Thank you dear.

Oh...totally gone off track...haha!

We spent quite some time there in Borders. Spent some time in arcade and browse thru Niichi. Then we took monorail to Hang Tuah (lazy..I know..haha) and took Star/RapidKL to Plaza Rakyat. Got my tix back home to SP, then went browse thru his fav manga shop and then took a bus to Mid Valley.

Both of us (who didn't sleep the night before...thanks to some stray kitten) didn't sleep throughout the journey to KL so we were both pretty ...dead. Dozed off several times on the bus and thankfully didn't miss our stop. :D

Went straight to Chilis. We were starving.

Chilis. Mahal. But damn sedap.

The big red chili inside...damn huge wei. Can die if it falls on ppl.

QJ as he pores thru the menu. Kinda decided what he wanted to have already tho...his personal fav...heehee.

Posing? :P

Random ornaments. Got bored waiting for food.

Was coughing so its just tea for me :D

Salt and Pepper!!!

This is what I ordered. Can't quite remember what its called already. Its a new dish (or so it says on the menu) but didn't quite like it. Was a bit too salty some parts and kinda bland some parts. Dunno why. Geh...but the rice is damn YUM! (lol...of all things)

Now THIS...is damn sedap! Has officially become our favourite dish from Chilis. The best thing from Chilis (aside from their chicken wings) has got to be their mashed potatoes. Heavenly. No kidding. Country Fried Chicken or sumthing like that. Can't remember already :P

Mmmm...what DID we do after Chilis? Can't really remember much. I remember going to MPH tho. Think we left quite early cuz I was supposed to meet the rest at the LRT station at 6. And it was already 5sumthing when we were done with our 'so called lunch'. These trips are usually such a rush. Kinda shame, in a way. But we had fun!

The next day, QJ went to play some Magic tourney (PTQ Valencia) with his friends, while the girls were stuck with me. hehehe...Sis took us out to The Curve and we had Paddingtons House of Pancakes for Lunch. :9 Yum. Everyone should try this place. A tad bit expensive for pancakes, but for the portion, its pretty worth it. Share if you must, just to try it out. (The Curve is food heaven. Italiannies. Marché Movenpick, Paddingtons, O'Brien's...Kim Gary's (not that fond of it tho) to name a few. Cross over to Ikano Power Center and you get Ikea's Meatballs (beef). The fish chips there are not bad as well. Best part of Ikea's cafe has got to be its free flow coffee. Can sit there 2 hours (and suffer later going to toilet). But oh. If its fish chips, get ur butt to Manhattan Fish Market there. Ppl scared Munmun and myself saying that its expensive over there! So for the longest time, both of us dare not eat there for fear of pokai-ing ourselves but last trip there during Bon Odori, we were both very much relieved that the classic Fish and Chips there is only RM16-ish. Still affordable (for its good food quality).

Mmmm...enuff food la for now. Hungry just now also write till not hungry ade. Laters. And oh...Happy Merdeka...soon :D

p/s: Baskin Robins starting its sale on 29th. Damn.

Bloody...

I cut a finger on my left hand the other day trying to clean the cover of my rice cooker. Sharp bend edge that I didn't know was there.

And I cut my finger again cleaning the 'senduk' just now. Right hand this time. Again...on a surface I didn't know was so sharp.

I swear. I spend so much time cooking and yet I don't get hurt when I'm cooking. I get hurt AFTER I'm done cooking and eating. wat the...

Suey-ness. Kena jari telunjuk summore. So itching and hurts when I bend it. So irritating. GEH! /whimper

A little hungry now. Dunno what to have....mmm...Milo aje la. Lucky not at QJ's else I'll open my box of Pillsburry Buttermilk Pancake and whip out a few pieces. Must buy pisang this Wednesday pasar. Make Pancake and banana and choc and strawberry jam. Omg lapar.... ugh...

Oh oh! Fried Singapore Beehoon the other day, following a recipe given by aunt from a recipe book specializing in noodles and the sort. At first it was like...a bit tasteless so I added a bit more ketchup and soy sauce. Then.... :DDD Was pretty nice! Wait la, I'll post up the recipe sometime soon. Gonna try Hor Fun when I can!

....hungry la...kenot tahan de... /goes make milo :D

Sigh...

Just one weekend nia...and I already miss him like nutz x.x ...make matters worse, I have paper later at 8pm and its one tough shit.

Being at his place, lepaking and lying on his bed and not expecting him to be back anytime soon to give me that surprise cuddle or just be there where I can see him...that itself is an odd feeling.

And he's not gonna be around next weekend either (and prolly the week after that). For Magic Nationals. I'd wanna stay in Mlk to try capture pics of fireworks from hostel balcony but...this missing him really makes me wanna follow to KL, eventho I won't really be with him all the time. Was with him for last year's Nationals, but still get to eat nice nice Dominos with him...hee. See la. We'll see.

Come back soon, Dearie!!!

/kitty paw paws pillow imagining its puppy...snugsnugs! >X33

Holidays-Genting

This marks the third time I'm in Genting while I'm in MMU..that's 3 years in a row (and not for casino-related reasons...I know some ppl go there VERY often cuz of that...hee~)

3 times already wo...must be bored rite? Well...not really. I enjoyed myself up there. Well...except for the minor *coughcough* cramp I had on the 2nd morning there (grrr). I guess its the company that makes it enjoyable. With Dearie around...and a rather crazy bunch, it wasn't hard to 'have fun' up there.

HR, Suj and myself left my sister's house around 8am and took LRT to Sentral. LRTs are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE in the morning. Totally redefines 'packed like a canned of sardines'. Thankfully, the station we boarded was only the 2nd station from the start of the line, so we still had space, before other ppl start squeezing in on us. Almost couldn't exit the train when it arrived in Sentral cuz some stupid 'cow' stampede masuk kandang when I was trying to squeeze my way out. The cow wouldn't even budge when I "politely"(heh) asked him to...so that left me with no choice but to shove my backpack at his direction and push that idiot aside. I half wish I had the strength to push him so hard he'd fall out of the train. Shesh.

The whole CARE gang gathered at KL Sentral. Some straight from KL-zone, some from Malacca, some from Seremban and Kajang. Munched on McD while waiting for our bus at 10.

When we arrived at Genting Skyway lower station, we were greeted by a huge crowd from KTAR. Some school trip I suppose. So...banyak ppl. All in formal white outfit.

No, that's from MMU. Not KTAR.

View from Cable Car as it left Skyway station

The view while we were getting higher, was as superb as ever. Simply love it.

The usual 'Cable Car moment' camwhoring :P

At one point, the mist suddenly grew so thick..

...and I couldn't help but be facinated with this scene.

Multishots of a cable car disappearing into the clouds

Arrived at the top station, and (easily) navigated ourselves to First World Plaza. After coming here 2 times, getting there wasn't so hard anymore. Actually got 'lost' first time I tried to go there last time.

Fav pic of the trip :D

As usual, we had to wait awfully long just to check in at the counter. We were 100++ numbers away from the current number being called to the counter. So sibuk, them. So...I started snapping random pics of couples, of ppl reading books, of random objects, and of a certain someone who was 'preaching' about magic. LOL

"Why my deck kicks ur deck's ass"
...yes, I was bored XP

Miniature of Genting Highland.

As soon as we got our room keys, we dumped our stuff and went makan...damn hungry. Had our first bite of 'expensive highland food' at 'Hao You Ji'-Good Friends Restaurant. Expensive chinese food. We accidentally ordered a whole chicken (thanks to the damn waiters for the bloody confusion)...end up tapau-ed half of it for dinner that night.

After that was Casino. Hahaha. I donated RM10 to the casino funds there. 10 bucks...just to press random buttons. The casino was less impressive than what I thought it would be. A LOT of old ppl in there. A lot of ppl from Singapore. A lot of ppl smoking (my poor eyes..stinging sial)...a lot of money spent. It was an o-kay experience for me. Overrated. Heh. Well the best part of the casino was the end of it. There was this nice little 'cafe'. Free drinks. Free flow. Milo, nescafe, teh tarik, orange juice...dunno wat else. Next time go First World there thirsty, remember to drop by your friendly local Casino for some hot/cold drinks :D .
No pics there.

After Casino was arcade. I think QJ already had a dose of arcading earlier when I was resting after lunch...cis....We tried the shooting game, Omega sumthing...cant remem. Anyway, we had this buy 1 free 1 promo so ended up spending RM18 for 80 bullets (or sumthing like dat)...was pretty nice, if it wasn't so expensive. Even had a 9.sumthing score shot. After that more arcade. DDR and para para...Ghost Squad la....then we went hunt for dinner. Looking for cheap and edible food in Genting is such a horrid pain in the ass. Ended up eating at this foodcourt-like place. Economy rice style. Plain rice and a scoop of tofu was RM6. Thankfully we saved up on the chicken. Hahaha. Wanted to go for Karaoke at night be it was after 9pm when we wanted to go and the coupon promotion require us to 'check in' before 9...so we went for more arcade again. swt.

Next morning. Breakfast. Yuk. Banyak. But not so nice. I think a bit 'jelak' ade. Somehow, even just eat a bit of the buffet breakfast makes you full. Felt like just having warm milk and cereal after the initial egg and ham + a bit of rice. I'd say the best food there was the cereals...and teh baked beans. How wrong can you get with those?

Went back room to zzz awhile cuz wasn't feeling well. QJ woke me up later for karaoke. It was a different promo. RM10 (minimum) set lunch and you get a booth for 2 hours. Was pretty worth it eventho we already had 'brunch'. RM10 nasi lemak and a drink. Singing like some crazy ppl is fun. They have quite a lot of songs but the problem is, the MTV that goes with the songs are...omg lame. If you're lucky, you get the song's original MTV BUT not get too happy cuz....you might just not have the lyrics there. Other times, you just get a 'not sexy enuff' lady prancing around in some local housing estate trying to look like she's not posing for the camera. Linkin Park was nutz. Alex Liew can sing. Pretty well too. Haha....diam diam ubi berisi. 'My Humps' was wtf ROFL. Taxi taxi taxi was just a nice way to end the little karaoke session.

It rained later that evening. Wonders why. /whistles

We splitted up and went our own ways. Went on 'Flying Coaster' just for the heck of 'themepark ride'. Had a chicken pie with QJ while enjoying the view/breeze. Syokness. Had a round of Ghost Squad with QJ...then we went back room to rest a bit before dinner. Was so comfy, didn't feel like waking up for dinner.

Dinner was at Coffee Terrace. Buffet dinner from 6 kitchen. Local Fav + Nonya, Chinese, Western, Japanese, Indian and Middle Eastern. Oh, don't forget the dessert table. Looks pretty luxurious too. RM54 but was worth it...cuz...It was free! XD

Random lamp near the entrance of Coffee Terrace

Entrance walkway to Coffee Terrace. They were having some 'Welcome to Penang' promo, thus the Penang Bridge.. =.=

More random deco

Omg food. OMG SUSHI+SASHIMI!! Salmon!~~~
Very nice western food as well. QJ loved that 'stir fry' vege from Chinese Kitchen

VERY kenyang XD

Suj, Eo, and Tim...hee~

Eh..not enuff food ke?
(Note: Orchids are not in the menu)

Ahem...Adeline is also not in the menu...

White Flag-Surrender ade la...
Oi Alex...still can eat?

(Almost) the last guests there.

Lotsa plates..

Hey look at-...oh shit..its stuck!

Boys will be boys...humping cannons...

Random deco..

More random deco..

After dinner: Snooker. And I suck at it... (chill la...2nd time playing nia)

After 4 rounds, we decided that it was STILL to early to go sleep. So we went Safari, the pub there. Fuckin disappointing. Dah la have to pay to go in. No cun chicks. Full of middle eastern+middle aged+unsexy men. Smoking on the dance floor. Sucky liquor mixes. Thankfully I didn't have to pay to get in.

High dee..

Went for a little stroll around the chilling outdoors after we ciao from that place. Winds were darn strong that night but it was lovely. Syokness. Wish it was that cold down here (but MUST have water heater or I'll swear I wun mandi for a week!)

Random deco-stuff outside First World Hotel lobby

Third day was pretty short. Buffet breakfast. Checkout. Free bowling...then we caught a bus back to the land of the hot air...sigh. So panas.

That ends the entry on my Genting trip last midterm break. So damn short. Bleh.
